**Every year since 1972**, members of the Westford Colonial Minutemen walk the route traveled by the Westford militia and minute companies as they responded to the alarm on April 19, 1775. The public is invited to join them in the 10-mile walk, which ends at Concord’s North Bridge. For more information, contact the Westford Minutemen.

**The Col. John Robinson Trail**
The Col. John Robinson Historic Trail marks the route taken by Westford’s minute and militia companies during their march to Concord on the morning of April 19th, 1775. Upon receiving the alarm, Lt. Col. Robinson set off for Concord on horseback from his home on present-day Robinson Road. He and several others from Westford arrived in time to participate in the provincial response to the British regulars’ expedition. The remainder of the militia marched to the North Bridge, arriving shortly after the battle. Some continued on throughout the day, engaging the regulars along the Battle Road until they reached Cambridge.
Today, members of the Westford Colonial Minutemen welcome everyone interested in retracing the steps of Westford’s first Revolutionary War soldiers. The trail is traditionally walked by our community members before the Concord Parade, which typically takes place on Patriot’s Day. The 10-mile march starts shortly after 4:45 AM and can be completed between 8:00 and 9:00 AM, depending on the pace. Note that historical clothing is not required to participate; simply having an interest in the experience is enough!
**The Col. John Robinson Trail**
We invite everyone to join us in this coming Patriot’s Day (Monday, April 20th) to commemorate the march of 1775. We will meet at the town common by 4:45 AM so we can start shortly thereafter. Please check this page for possible updates as the date approaches.
**Important Notes for Participants:**
If you wish to participate in all or part of the trail march and do not want to walk back, please arrange a return ride from Concord! Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring adequate water and snacks, and dress appropriately for the morning’s weather. The commemorative walk will take place rain or shine (unless it’s truly pouring!).
