Revolutionary War Veterans and Civilian Casualties in Wright Cemetery

The tour features a map displaying the names of Revolutionary War Patriots from Westford. By clicking on a map marker, you can view a picture of the soldier’s tombstone located in Wright Cemetery, along with additional information about that soldier or casualty of the Revolutionary War.

Information for each soldier’s service record was derived from:

• Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War* (MSSRW), a compilation of service records for all Massachusetts men documented as having served during the war from 1775 to 1783.

*Please note that these records may occasionally list the same individual with different spellings. Furthermore, some entries may refer to another person from Westford or a nearby town who has a similar name. This is why some men from Westford may appear with multiple service records.

Nahum was born on May 15, 1745, in Medfield to Seth and Sarah Pratt Wright. He first married Hannah Hill of Sherborn on October 30, 1771. Hannah sadly died after giving birth to their daughter, Hannah, on July 27, 1772. During the Revolutionary War, Nahum served at Prospect Hill in October 1775, at Ticonderoga in November 1776, and in the Continental Army in 1778.

Nahum married Abigail Bullard for the second time in Sherborn on April 9, 1778, and they had three children together. After spending most of his life in Medfield and Sherborn, he moved to Westford, possibly to be near his son Caleb and his family. He passed away in Westford on September 18, 1834, at the age of 89.
